Description: At the foot of the Bom Jesus we park the camper. In the nineteenth century, this church is accessible by cable car, but we take two feet. That means up carved steps over three hundred in the rocks, past a number of chapels, where the Passion of Jesus through life large colorful terracotta figures is depicted. The real pilgrims on their knees upwards, but are not there yet, because it is early in the morning. We pass numerous statues and fountains and the view over the city is becoming more beautiful.

Description: We therefore opt for a bike ride on a beautiful bike path along the mouth of the Douro and the Dom Luis I bridge in Oporto. We pass several wineries on the South Shore, where port wine is stored in large barrels. The bridge was designed in the nineteenth century by an apprentice of Gustave Eiffel and has an upper and lower deck. Be sure the barcos rabelos, the historic ships that formerly brought the wine barrels from the interior to the port, rocking on the waves.

Description: On the northern bank of the Douro is buzzing. Behind the many terraces, the colorful folk Ribeira district with its steep streets and alleys. It seems like time has stood still here. Many in pastel colored facades are decorated with azulejos, ceramic tiles.

Description: In 1917 Mary here would have appeared six times to three shepherd children, who now lie buried in the basilica built on the affected area. It starts on the immense square, which is larger than St. Peter's Square in Rome. Here are some pilgrims crawling on their knees hundreds of meters across the square, buy at a stall an armful of candles, to then as an offering to the Virgin Mary to throw in an oven. There is a row of blazing flames. The smoke hits us in the face.

Description: A ride with the oldest tram in Lisbon, tram 28, is a must. We step on the Praça do Comércio on. Creaking and shaking take the yellow old man, which is still powered by a trolley with current, very steep climbs through the old quarters of Alfama, Baixa and Rossio. We pass palaces, fountains, statues and even the Sé Cathedral de Lisboa.
