Didn’t stay the night but parked up briefly. Long tarmac parking bays in a row but all sloping and the road is just beyond which was quite busy. Free to park and convenient to visit the old town/castle but we moved on to the other Aire across the bridge for overnight.

Just parked here and walked round Chinon which is a beautiful town with loads of restaurants. However, we didn't stay overnight (we were going to) as the parking was very sloping. We have auto leveling and took it right up to maximum but nowhere near level.  Shame as it would have been nice to stay.

convenient place to park there to view the village. But that's where it ends for us, slept super badly given the noise of the road next to it. Are used to something but this was too bad.
