Great place to stay overnight with a view of the glacier.
Many cows with bells to ring on the mountains around.
Beautiful walks to make with beautiful views.
Toilets are open, but bring a flashlight because the light does not work. 
We were there in June with 3 other campers.
No one seen to pay.
Fresh water and garbage cans available.
Had a very quiet night

It is no longer free but 10 euros per day.

Ideal location (mixed parking) to start your walks immediately. Plus a beautiful view of the La Meije. There is a water point, but the public toilets are closed after the summer season. The D33 to it is easily accessible, even for larger campers. Only the passage through the hamlet of Les Terrasses is narrower, but doable.
