In my opinion, the most beautiful spot in Italy!

There are no services except for a restaurant not far away, but the view is breathtaking: you're right in the mountains overlooking the sea and a breathtaking view down into the marble quarries.

And I haven't even mentioned the sunsets.
It's definitely worth going beyond the official parking area (2 km on a fairly good track) to stop at a large, flat area perfectly suited for campervans.

At the very top of the mountain. If you drive quietly for five minutes at the P, on the less well maintained road, you will come to ample parking space and a wonderful place to walk and enjoy the (evening) lights of the valley and the enamel quarries that extend to to the city. The tunnel further on was never completed and the walk to the back is also worth it. Totally off grid. beautiful views everywhere.

read all reviews because they all contain bits of truth
in any case beautiful and great for walking
rifugio carrara was open for drinks but no restaurant
parking lot at the access road has a beautiful view but we are a bit more sheltered for the night on the road at the bottom left of the rifugio
