Free and a short walk from the city center. Great for exploring Matera.

Despite a sign prohibiting the pitching of tents, caravans, or campervans, there were still more than 20 campervans and two caravans. There are trash bins, but the water tap isn't working. We had peaceful nights, and it's indeed a 15-20 minute walk to the Sassi. Picnic tables are available. There's construction going on next door on an apartment building, but there was hardly any disturbance.

It's just a parking lot. Free. Sloping except for the upper spaces. The center is a 10-minute walk away. Quiet at night.
