The barrier was open on September 18th, but I paid anyway. I hope there's no hassle afterward. It's noisy during the day, but quiet at night with the sounds of the forest animals in the background and a beautiful view of the keep. I didn't see many campers here. Within walking distance of a pretty town with a steep climb to the keep (entrance fee: €10 per person).

The parking lot is divided into two parts: a free section and a paid section - we stayed in the paid section without any problems for the night. Public restrooms are a 10-minute walk from the parking lot.
Light sleepers, beware: the garbage trucks come by early Tuesday morning (noisy when it comes to the glass bin!)
Less traffic at night than during the day
