The prohibition sign clearly shows a tent and a CARAVAN, a general prohibition sign for parking lots in Italy. However, campervans ARE allowed, and according to national traffic regulations, campervans are also permitted to stay overnight in public parking lots. However, camping (chairs, tables, awnings, etc.) is not permitted. The carabinieri do try to ban campervans from some parking lots, but only at the insistence of local residents.

Unsure if this is a parking space now. Clear signs prohibiting campers and tents, making parking up/ staying quite uncomfortable. Could have been a wonderful night stay.

Merel and Wout reason here to on April 29, 2017. Spot appears great to be unsociable park with noise and purification of passing freight trains. There are signs indicating that it is forbidden to stay. We drove to Germignaga, about 6 km north. That official place is highly recommended.
