Despite the campsite being advertised as open, a man on the property said it was closed. I got the impression that was permanent, as they were busy converting the land into fields.

Makes a run-down and abandoned impression. When we arrived there was no one to be found anywhere. We then simply parked behind the house. At around 6:30 p.m. a woman who didn't speak French or anything like that came and collected Dh50. Very quiet location. There is a small shop in the village. And a café at the front of the N12 where you can also get an omelet.

Camping Azurite is located near Maisie, off the N12 between Merzouga and Zagora. At time of visit there was electric was possible with waste disposal and fresh water, we were told showers and working toilet are soon to be upgraded. Price for parking 50MDH with electric 70MDh. Nice friendly family and place to stop for a night or two.
