We also chose to defy the parking ban from midnight to 6 a.m., like a dozen others. A quiet night by the river, and the added bonus of a superb location, accessible 24/7.

Even though the road is closed, it was nice to stand here and enjoy the view. Sanitary building was open. Overnight stay was fine!

Trollstigen is closed for the rest of the summer, as there have been several rock falls onto the road since it open two weeks ago. see online info. 
It’s still worth coming to the visitor centre for stunning views, and can’t see any reason not to stay the night.
