There are chains on the front. You can't get on now. We drove on up; there were indeed several campers there and the view is amazing!

it is a bleak, piece of parking lot where you can stand. I drove further to the top and stood there with some campers, was completely great there and a fantastic view.

We stopped overnight on 10th May 2024 with no problems. Excellent base for cycling or hiking.
