Just put a residential tower there; there's plenty of room. Campers have been driven away.

I am also a local resident, and there has never been any nuisance from the campers, more nuisance from the noisy boy with their balloons. The municipality is making a big mistake here by charging so much money for spots where there are no facilities; this does not come across as welcoming to campers coming from out of the area. What now? What about the empty spots that were actually designated as camper sites? Local businesses are suffering the consequences of this as well.

A point of clarification. It is indeed a lot of money for zero amenities. However, the free spots have been abused. As a local resident, I noticed that "fellow" camper owners have shamelessly and continuously abused these spots for months. Moving around a bit every now and then. Inevitably, this causes a nuisance, the municipality intervenes, and I understand that. I have read that scanning vehicles may be deployed, so people have been warned.
