Parking Gaustabanen

We parked very quietly in the first parking spot below the large parking lot. Not in the designated area for campers (sloping) and not in the large parking lot near the Gaustabanen. Initially, it was just us, but after 6:00 PM, four more campers arrived.

Fantastic place to stay overnight. No other facilities, but that's not necessary with such a beautiful view. Wonderfully quiet in the evening after everyone has left, and also a wonderful way to wake up in the morning. We were there with about eight campers, and it was manageable. We headed straight up the mountain in the morning.

We didn't actually stay at the campsite, but a bit further away. Truly amazing...the view of the water and Gaustatop. Quite busy during the day (by Norwegian standards), but wonderfully peaceful in the evenings and at night. Plenty of hiking opportunities and a beautiful nature reserve.
