Drove to the indicated place in Heddal (some searching but found). However, there was now a sign "No camping" there...

place on a pebble beach - 20 minutes walk to the Heddal stave church - turn into the road opposite the parking lot at the church, drive immediately left parallel to the road and turn right at an 'exit', follow the road to the end
