Parque de Campismo de Vila Real

For Portuguese campsites, this is a great one. A very friendly and courteous welcome in English. The washing machine (large) was explained, and the coffee was excellent. The gentleman even walked us upstairs. We had a good, level spot, and the dish and shower were wonderfully warm, and all the shower heads in the ladies' area were neatly hung on the wall. There was even a toilet for the disabled and a hairdryer. And all that for €19.30. In Portugal, you often see that broken items aren't cleaned up. 😉

Friendly welcome. However, the campsite seems more like a storage facility for old (abandoned) campers and caravans. This doesn't enhance the atmosphere. The bathroom facilities are dated. Almost no showerheads are still attached to the wall. A plus is the convenient location near the town center.

The campsite is conveniently located for visiting the city or the Douro Valley. It looks shabby. You can choose your own pitch, but finding a quiet spot proved quite a challenge. The restrooms are okay, at least there's hot water.
