Handy aire for visiting the town. Hard standing but no borne and the rubbish bins overfull. A sign says you can use the borne at Camping Vauban for €5. Bergues is a pleasant town with a large and lively market on Monday mornings. The aire was full on a Sunday night in July.

Pleasant well-kept aire in a great position by the river. Watten is a nice friendly town with three boulangeries and a small supermarket. Good walks beside the river Aa. We stayed with ten other vans before driving the seventy miles to the Zeebrugge ferry.

Attractive campsite with a choice of sun and shade. Clean modern toilet block. We had a level grassy pitch with hedges on three sides and water and electricity close by. The manager was friendly and helpful and you can get bread and croissants from 8am if ordered the day before. Nicer than the aire, with roomier pitches, and if you have showers only €1 dearer.

Attractive site with grassy hedged pitches. Toilets with seats but no paper, soap or dryer. Good showers. Friendly informative guardiens Bread and croissants available from 7.30am if ordered the night before. We paid €16.14 a night including electricity. Guardienne had to open the barrier for each arrival and departure due to travellers resident over the road. Just over 1km walk into town.

We just stopped here for lunch and what a lovely spot it is. One end of the road is no waiting for large vans but you can park at the other end by the outdoor gym where it's marked out with your side door facing the lake. The borne's still hors service but you can still empty out. We'd happily have stayed the night but it was a bit early to park up.

Lovely campsite with grassy pitches between mature trees giving a choice of shade and sun. Friendly reception open morning and evening, at other times site yourself. Good showers and toilets with seats and paper. Mehun is a pleasant town with a canal and a river which flows through an attractive park. Good boulangeries and a few cafes. We paid €12.44 a night including electricity.

Spent a quiet night here with a dozen other vans. Brioude is a lively attractive town. If you go inside the basilica there are some great modern stained glass windows. We didn't use the borne as someone, instead of getting a jeton, had emptied their toilet cassette into the grey water drain and it was a disgusting mess. Yes, there really are such filthy people around.

Nice quiet aire. We were glad of a shady pitch on a very hot day. Meyras is an attractive village, many of the buildings having painted frescoes. There's a small shop where you can buy bread from 7.30am. The €4 fee was collected by a council worker in the morning.

Pleasant aire. We camped under the plane trees as pétanque was going on everywhere else. Great concert with a good pop/rock band in adjacent park till 11pm. Handy mini-supermarket at the road end for bread at 9am. Good free borne. Thank you Aspres-sur-Bruëch.

Attractive site with some shade. Friendly reception but in the afternoon only open from 3.30pm and you can't access the site without booking in. Good bread and croissants from 8.30am if ordered the day before. Handy for the town which has a good market on Thursday mornings. Walks for all levels from the village.

Modern service point. The drain is set a little far back for some vans. Water €2 jeton available from campsite when open, otherwise from the Tourist Info in Névache a couple of miles away. But really, why not stay on the beautiful campsite next door?

Lovely simple site beside the River Clareé. Walks for all levels from the site. Small loo block with showers. Good shop 200m sells bread open every morning. 16 electric points. Reception open morning and evening, at other times pitch up where you like. A great site in a beautiful valley.

Lovely aire, more like a campsite, with pitches between trees or in an open field. Friendly English-speaking manager. Busy at the weekend but quiet at night. Good borne. Good walks from the site through woods and flower-filled pastures. €15 including electricity and well worth it.

Great aire with lovely mountain views close to town where there's a good boulangerie. We had a quiet night camped next to the stream. The borne has beautiful cold mountain water. No-one collected the €4.80 fee so everyone had a free night.

Very quiet with just four vans on the aire. Only one drain point and the fresh water is inside a small building, so it must be a problem when the site's busy. Great views of the mountains and interesting walks straight from the aire. Price is now €14 including 10amp electricity.

We spent a pleasant couple of nights here, having got the last remaining place on the Friday, a pitch on the lower level with a good patch of grass in front of it. There are some lovely walks by the canal and beside the river Doubs. It's a very popular spot with motorhomers travelling between Germany and the Mediterranean and at least twenty vans that wanted to stay couldn't get on.

An attractive aire with marked hardstandings, each with electricity. It's clean and well-kept, with trees and flowery verges. Although it's beside the canal there's no direct access to it. €13 including electricity and water is a bit dear for a French aire, but still a lot cheaper than camping in Britain. We spent a quiet night there, the trains being not at all disturbing.

The aire is situated on the N521 next to the bullring on the edge of town, so it's handy for the shops and the old town. There are 7 marked pitches separated by trees, reasonably wide but they'd be too short for big motorhomes. The borne was modern and clean, though the tap fitting was too small for our hose. There's a separate tap for rinsing chemical toilets. We spent a quiet night there.
Sitecode: 18420
Not really what you'd call a camper stop as there's no grey waste and the only drinking water is from the wash-up sinks but it's a beautiful place, relaxed and friendly, so we stayed for 3 nights and really enjoyed it.

A friendly and helpful lady at reception. After rain many of the pitches stay very wet for a long time. It's a handy spot for visiting Évora with a bus stop just outside the gate. The motorhome point is inadequate, with no drive-over drain and no separate tap for rinsing chemical toilets. There is a drive-over drain at the site's car wash though. We paid just over €17 including electricity.

We arrived mid-afternoon and got the only remaining space, though a few who arrived later parked along the road. A stroll across the pedestrianised bridge takes you to the town which has a lot of attractive old buildings. The aire was clean and well looked-after, with a good borne and drive-over drain.

A handy aire close to the N4. Wehad a quiet night with 10 other vans. We filled up and emptied the grey waste but couldn't find the toilet emptying. Bread from the nearby bakers was very good.

We spent a peaceful night here on our way south. The aire is kept clean and the borne too, and it's all free. The campsite next door seems to be closed. Just a short stroll down to the river and an interesting Neanderthal excavation site.
Sitecode: 10130
It's a clean quiet well-lit aire with level unmarked hardstandings. There's no electricity but there's fresh water and grey and black waste, though there's no separate tap for chemical toilet rinsing. It's about 1 km riverside walk into the town which is rather attractive with a large main square. It's free and it's a handy stop to or from Santander.

A nice site, level quiet and clean. We had the electric hook-up but because it's just 4 amps we used the gas kettle and diesel heating and used the mains for the fridge and charging up the gadgets. The borne's well-maintained and easy to use. We'd stay there again as it's so handy for the motorway.
