Our favorite place is on the enchanted grounds of the old paper factory in Neu Kaliss. Located directly on the river Elde, a branch of the Elbe, you can stroll through this charming lost place, visit the exhibition about the history, go kayaking towards the old mill or to the nature reserve in Dömitz. Or you can go fishing or cycle along the Elbe cycle path. Anyone expecting pitches or a traditional campsite feeling will not find it here. But there is industrial culture, lost place charm and wild nature all the more! This is a unique, natural place to spend a few relaxing days away from the big city. The old brick buildings are home to falcons, storks and kites, there are deer in the fields and you will be woken up in the morning by sheep or free-range chickens. The sunset terrace on the island with a porch swing and comfortable garden furniture invites you to linger and in the evenings there is often a fire or a spontaneous movie on the big screen. The site includes the Kontorhaus, where various creative projects are currently being developed and an exhibition about the history of the factory is housed. You are also welcome to explore the outdoor area of the old paper factory on the island with all its enchanted corners and let your gaze wander over the fields at sunset.
