The area is not safe. Several vehicles have been robbed in broad daylight. They are professional and fast; you have no chance to protect yourself.

We stayed here for four nights in mid-March. Quiet, fine spot. No amenities and not level terrain. About a half-hour walk to Place Espagne (tip: first walk up the hill to the Telefonica transmission tower, then down via the National Museum using the escalators) and then to the RAMBLAS.
