Very nice, everything is available and mostly free. What more could you want? We didn't need electricity. We love coming here. Many thanks to the municipality of Lapalisse.

A very nice and well-laid-out pitch at Camping Car Park. Modern facilities. The adjacent old municipal campsite is slowly falling into disrepair, and the water level in the lake has been rising for three months (as of October 4, 2026) for unknown reasons. The small sandy beach and the small restaurant are partially submerged and are being partially cleared. The small village of Schoenau is easily accessible on foot. Small village shop. So far, everything is available.

Everything went perfectly. Quick entry, internet billing, and availability of the booked electricity. Absolutely flawless.

The campsite, water/waste disposal facilities, public transport options, ferry, and campsite manager are all excellent. Unfortunately, the campsite/field is now chaotically blocked by parked cars before May 1st. If something happens here, for example with the gas system or something similar, many people won't be able to leave. I assume there's no official emergency exit/escape plan in place in conjunction with the fire department and rescue services. Unfortunately – hence the significant downgrade.

In the evenings, during the free hours, the complete overcrowding creates catastrophic conditions. Roads are no longer passable. Every vehicle is permitted to carry the required amount of gas. Only Germany has mandatory gas inspections. If fires break out here, it will be a catastrophe. The fire department wouldn't even be able to get in. I don't understand the local council or the police.

No official parking space – now paid parking (with a parking meter). This is also monitored and penalized.

Not an official parking space, but actually a regular parking lot for cars. Now – due to use by campers and their behavior – there's a 10-hour parking limit and a mandatory parking disc. There are also enforcement checks and penalties. Completely overcrowded on SC Freiburg (1st Bundesliga) home game days.

The site is currently being remodeled (May 28, 2025) and will be fitted with a barrier for payment and a new waste disposal system. Presumably, CCP or something similar has stepped in, and the fee is likely to rise significantly. Construction work begins shortly after 7:00 a.m. and ends around 3:30 p.m. It's a shame that this unique site on the canal is now being closed.

Only the concrete area can still be used for motorhomes. Max. 15-20 spaces. Disposal is possible. Garbage containers overflow a bit. Otherwise, the former campsite is closed off with concrete bollards at the entrances. Closed for vehicles over 3.5t. There is a gravelled alternative space at the front directly after the roundabout. Nice little place.
