good spot if you can get one of the four bays for caravans and only want to stay a short time. The place is now full of signs saying no motorhomes and no camping. Very unfriendly, so we prefer to take our spending to somewhere more welcoming.

do not visit this place at all. We parked up and had dinner when some apoplectic old man came and threatened us with clampers. he made all sorts of threats. generally the people are very unfriendly, scowling and not willing to smile or say hello. definitely avoid and don’t give them the pleasure of treating you badly.

This was a great place to park. Lots of other vans and a safe feeling. We have bikes and a dig trailer so could cycle into the port caves - about 10 mins. Alternatively a walk down to the marina and the small fishing village - also 10 mins - is the place to take a ferry across the Douro (1.50€ pp) and the a tram into the old town. Great fun and can recommend.

This would be a 10star rating based on views and position if it was not for the disgusting actions of other motor home users. If you can imagine this pristine and beautiful place being used as a dump for chemical toilets - the amount of toilet paper caught in the bushes completely wrecks what should be a wonderful place to spend a night.
