Great facilities and a short distance in the other direction (dead end) a super clean portable toilet with a nice little beach and water that stays very shallow for a long time, making it child-friendly.

A beautiful and affordable spot, and with a bit of luck, you can sit on the strip of grass along the water with a view of the boats. Every day, you can pick up 4 free rolls/croissants at the nearby Jumbo. 10-minute bike ride to the city center.

This place got us through the extremely hot days. It is 6 to 8 degrees cooler than Alkmaar, and there is often a cool breeze from the Wat. On the “fresh side” (IJsselmeer), there is a very clean portable toilet. To the right, you will also find a disposal point for toilets and grey water, as well as a free water tank. Behind the supermarket (Deka), near the bus station, there is a paid toilet. Restaurant ’t Wad (just a little further down by the harbor) serves the very best fish.

Nice, spacious parking lot opposite a restaurant. Lots of birds and a fun and educational walk around the small lake next to the restaurant. Quiet at night.

I wish I had more friends like Uncle Jan. In America, by the way, it is very common to park on people's or friends' yards. There is even a club for it, and as a member, you get all the addresses. Maybe set that up in Europe too? Just an 8 km bike ride away, right at the front of Lommel in Belgium, you will find a beautiful indoor heated swimming pool with a sauna and jacuzzi, and all for less than €5. Oh, and thanks for those delicious strawberries.

Great spot. Clean toilets a few hundred meters to the right. Playground equipment for children. Various taps for water. Super quiet at night. During the day some fishermen and people walking their dogs. Very fancy bars and restaurants along the left bank. Nice place for cycling.
