A small, pleasant parking space at a marina in a small town without any major tourist attractions. It's a very quiet and trustworthy area. You drive in through the barrier, then go to the machine to pay the parking fee and decide whether or not you need electricity. The printed parking permit then gives you the code for the sanitary building, which you need to enter.

A campsite that will stay in your memory. We were swayed by the wonderful pictures of this place and therefore decided to make it our permanent home. Unfortunately, many of the pictures only showed the beautiful side of the place. Even the approach through the residential area, which then transitions into an industrial zone, suggested that anyone wanting to experience something beyond the campsite would either have to be a good walker or travel by foot. We missed having public transport on the way to the campsite.

Once again, a parking space at a thermal spa, but the price is somewhat high for what's offered. The parking spaces are all located on a grassy strip or, when overcrowded (though this is more likely due to spa guests arriving by car than motorhomes), on a meadow in front of the actual parking area. During our visit, neither could be described as a grassy strip nor a meadow. Parking required careful maneuvering.

A digitally controlled campsite in the immediate vicinity of the thermal baths in Bad Streben. Check-in is done at a machine, which provides a card that grants access to the campsite. This card is also required to pay for services, which include water refills for €1 per 70 liters, electricity for €0.70 per kWh, showers for €0.30 per minute, and washing machine and dryer use for €3 each.

A pitch without any particular charm, priced only justifiable on trade fair days due to its proximity to the exhibition grounds. €30 a night in a rather noisy environment with electricity, a small sanitary building (with toilets and even showers – not pretty, but functional), and a waste disposal station – we've seen cheaper options. Okay, there's the small restaurant on site, which is packed in the evenings, and the washing-up sinks.

The parking area at the Lohengrin Thermal Baths in Bayreuth has 15 spaces. Upon arrival at the barrier, you take a parking ticket and occupy one of the available spaces. Electricity costs €1 for 6 hours. There were plenty of power outlets located close to the parking area. You need to pay for your power supply at the service station using a euro coin. Drinking water (50 liters) costs €1, and wastewater disposal (including 20 liters of grey water) is also available for €1.

Our second campsite this Christmas season was at a thermal spa. Here, we were essentially only offered a gravel parking area, but at a lower price. We paid €12.50 for the night, which included use of the spa's restrooms. Electricity costs €1 per kWh. The water and waste disposal facilities are located in front of the "parking area" and are accessible to everyone, including "pre-campers."
