At the end of September 2025, the road to Oberwesel is still closed, but you can drive to the Rheingoldschänke without any problems. The weather wasn't great on our weekend, but we were able to take advantage of it for two lovely hikes. The Schwede Bure circular hiking trail (approx. 12 km) passes right by the inn and is highly recommended. The wines and excellent food at the Rheingoldschänke are also highly recommended. We'd love to come back!

To be honest, we're camping newbies... which is why I didn't give a review right away! Now we've gotten to know a few campsites for comparison. My summary for Widdern: The campsite impresses with its simplicity. Arrive, choose your pitch, and pay easily (put money in an envelope, drop it in the mailbox, and that's it). The campsite has everything we needed for two days. Thank you :-)

The price is certainly not a bargain, but we knew what to expect. The grounds are okay, and there's plenty of room for large campers. We were just here for a stopover, to cover a rainy day. A short hike to Herrsching am Anmersee and back, followed by a brewery tour (visual reality - I personally don't need it) and a pleasant evening in the brewery (welcome to the canteen). So-so!

Overnight stay September 4-5 / €7.50 The parking space and waterfront area are currently being renovated for the BuGa 2028 (BuGa 2028). Use of the parking space is permitted. Electricity, waste, and greywater disposal must be used. Cons: Somewhat disturbing background noise. Positive: Short walk to the beautiful city center, with plenty of restaurants.
