Slightly rustic campsite near Bratislava (tram 4 takes about 20 minutes to get into the centre), attached to a private lake with beach, giant inflatables, crazy golf etc. Facilities were a little run down and not particularly clean, but it's a good location. 14.55 Euros per night (with CCI card)

Beautiful, shaded campsite in a lovely Hungarian town (right next to a swimming pool!). The pitches are huge and all facilities included in the price of 2000 HUF per night (we didn't use electricity)

Garden of a Dutch expat who runs a small holiday rental, with space for one motorhome to stay in the garden. We received a massively warm welcome and were invited to help ourselves to fruit from the garden too. Toilets and showers available for use in the rental property. 10 Euros per night

Official car park of the Wieliczka salt mines, with toilet block and free municipal wifi. No fresh water, but the supermarket in the town sold 5 litre bottles for 1.55 PLN. Great place to visit Krakow from. Cost 30 PLN per night, apart from the last night, where we were charged 20 PLN

Spacious, quiet and pleasant location just outside the city walls of Templin, but within walking distance of the city. Free stay and camper facilities are also free apart from water (1 Euro for at least 40 litres).

Shopping centre car park that allows motorhomes to stay overnight for free. There are facilities at the Marktkauf petrol station, but they looked like they hadn't been used for about 5 years

Possibly the biggest campsite we've ever stayed on, with extensive woodland and a private beach as well as bakeries (yes, plural), a supermarket, a bar as well as all of the standard facilities. Washing machine rooms were locked though. 16 Euros per night (with ACSI card)

Park and ride car park with no specific signs to say that motorhomes were or weren't allowed. Payment applies between 7pm and 8am, so we made sure we were out by 8am to get a free night. Put it this way, we wouldn't stay there again!

5 parking spaces for motorhomes outside IKEA. Free to stay there (we managed to walk around IKEA and not buy anything!!!), but no facilities. Felt very safe

Parking for 60 motorhomes in the Red Double Decker bus depot. 19 Euros per night included all standard campsite and motorhome facilities; the unlimited hot showers were the best perk. It is located, however, right underneath an S-bahn track, so can be a little noisy, but for a place that's within walking distance of the centre, you can't complain.

A nice, level area of a car park near the port, specifically reserved for motorhomes, with good facilities. It's within a stone's throw of a small beach, but also close to a railway line and the main road into the port, so can be a little noisy. Stayed 1 night

Basically a motorway service station... but it's far enough away from the autovia that there's not too much traffic noise, there's a proper motorhome service point with all of the facilities, plus they've got free wifi! Everything for free!

Lovely aire with stunning views and great facilities. On a windy night it is a little exposed, and there are limited options for turning to face into the wind (the motorhome parking is slightly terraced). There's a sign saying it costs 5 Euros a night, but no indication of where to pay this... maybe it only applies in high season?

Non-maintained aire... there are remains of a water tap and waste disposal points, but they don't look operational. The parking area is surrounded by trees, giving some good shelter from wind and it's free (there's a sign saying you can stay for up to 4 nights).

Services cost 3 Euros (ask in the restaurant and they'll unlock them), but it's free to stay. Fresh water tasted a bit salty. It is quite an exposed spot and we were there on a very windy night!

Castle car park in Figueres. The sign saying "No vigilat" means it's not a monitored car park. Very handy for visiting the Dali museum. Popular with dog walkers, joggers, boy racers and "lovers". No motorhome facilities apart from a fresh water tap (no hose attachment)

Lovely sheltered aire, although the access to it is via some rather steep slopes. Had all of the usual motorhome facilities, only the water wasn't working, so we ended up paying 3 Euros to use the motorhome service point at the Carrefour in nearby La Brillanne.

Beautifully-situated quiet aire just through the village. Sadly all of the facilities were closed as it was out of season, but it was a lovely place to stop overnight before seeing the Verdon Gorge.

Pretty good facilities, but the main selling point is that it's open all year round. Not our first choice for the area, due to the cost (33 Euros advertised... but we were only charged 23 Euros a night), but it was the only one open on 7 January! Boat from here to Venice cost 13 Euro return... bus cost 2.60 Euro return (number 16, then change to number 6). We took the bus!

Beautiful car park in Montopoli di Sabina with great panoramic views and standard motorhome facilities... all for free! Beware though; there's a VERY steep hill to get into the motorhome section of the car park (yup, wheel spin on the way back out!)
