The site is well-organised and safe. Staff are friendly, helpful and regularly available either at reception or in buggies around the campsite so any problems can be quickly resolved. Facilities are good and everything is cleaned and bins emptied, daily. We stayed here for 2 weeks and found it quiet at night and well-placed for cycling and hiking.

We've stayed here a few times on the way to or from Calais. It seems a bit shabby now, but it's free. Once the tractors had stopped labouring up the hill behind us, the teenagers on their noisy motorbikes and the dog barking at them had finished (about 11pm)it was quiet till 7am, when the traffic started again. There were no bins either.

We parked here to visit the beautiful little town, well worth it by the way, but were not prepared to pay 10€ for- nothing! It's a carpark. We've paid less than that for a spot with power! We found somewhere else to spend the night for no charge.

Very popular, and therefore quite crowded, with nowhere for sitting outside had the weather permitted. However, it is free, flat and quiet at night. The town is lovely, do check out the secondhand shop, its clothes prices are cheap and the chateau is very interesting.

Just as everyone else has commented. A spacious green aire with hiking available nearby. Yes there is a railway line but it didn't keep us awake. We went into town, ready to shop locally and show our gratitude but both the boulangerie and the epicerie were closed. We stayed one night.

It gets 4 stars because it's quiet and handy for the town centre but it has seen better days. The municipality are in the process of improving it and there are holes dug all over the aire, but at the moment it's a little shabby. One of the barriers was broken when we arrived, so we had to go through the exit and at some point on our second day, that barrier was smashed by someone!

Returning after 3 years, we thought that this place had got a bit noisier - although it was quiet enough during the night. Still plenty of pitches so you can choose sun or shade. It was busy enough while we were there. for one night The international centre for the study of prehistory is well worth a visit. We spent our 2€ to fill up with water as we left. Walked to Grotte du Sourcier to discover it is closed due to a lack of personnel!!

Very popular(19 motorhomes squeezed in while we were there!), quiet and very handy to explore the lovely town. The only gripe is that you have to buy a card (from the Spar) to use the rubbish bins, recycling remains free. This had led to at least two lots of rubbish being left on the ground. Other services are all free. We couldn't believe how such a crowded aire could be so silent at night, but it was.

Quiet, level pitches and free to stay. It's a tight turn to get in or out with a 7.5m motorhome! Within walking/cycling distance of Auvillar which we thoroughly recommend. We stayed here for two nights - be aware the bells for mass at the nearby church were rung at 7 am!

Limited facilities( electricity wasn't on, there didn't appear to be drinking water) , but 3 shady pitches under the trees. We found that the barrier further up, was open, so we parked ( with 3 other motorhomes) in the municipal campsite which was closed, it being the end if the season. This gave us an unrivalled view of the light show as it played on the chateau after dark. Beware of mosquitoes which were voracious!

In fact they deserve 6 stars! This is our favourite camping site ever. Laundry is done, on request (ask at reception), bread is delivered each morning, facilities are modern and spotlessly clean, the hosts are indefatigable, multi-lingual, polite and helpful all day long. The site is rural, but not too far from everything. The nearby village of Gondrin has a superb small supermarket. Booking essential, see the amazing website for more details.

The town is amazing and well worth a visit. If you go nowhere else at least visit the cathedral with its incredible choir stalls. The aire is well laid out with hedges to mark pitches and electricity is included in the price. The ticket machine takes a little while to understand, there are spaces either side so you can park up and take your time without blocking the barrier for motorhomes wishing to leave before their tickets run out!!

The town is lovely with a great vibe, it's well worth a visit. The aire was very busy and felt crowded. The facilities are a 5 minute drive away at the Intermarché. There is a toilet and shower but we didn't see it being cleaned and it was very well-used. We stayed one night.

We parked opposite the facilities in the field, to get some shade from the trees lining the road. In the evening we moved to the hedge side to get away from the road. The road was noisy with speeding vehicles. Water, drainage and emptying facilities over the road. Aubeterre a picturesque village particularly the underground church.

Shady pitches under the trees, clean, modern shower and toilet block, helpful receptionist ( who spoke English), laundry facilities (pay at reception), within easy walking/cycling of Cognac town centre along the river path. Some road noise from the bridge but not too obtrusive.

Incredibly quiet overnight, free electricity (look at the back of the concrete with the taps), free water, grey waste drainage - what's not to like? The downside is, once you've visited the very interesting museum and walked to the village to look at the goat cheese factory there isn't a huge amount to do. We stayed one afternoon and a night, in that time there were 3 other visitors to the museum.

9 if you don't get a hook-up! Limited hook-ups for free electricity (8) down the right hand side and on the shed building as you drive in. Free water at grey waste drain on the inside of the barrier(tap on shed building). Muddy in the rain but the ground seems quite hard. Quiet at night. Lovely mediæval French town centre.

Lots of choice of spaces and although chocks are needed, still level-ish. Very picturesque village, with mostly restaurants and souvenir shops, but also a boulangerie ,boucherie and launderette (at the garage). Our payment was collected in the evening, or you can pay at the tourist information. Very quiet at night, despite the railway line right next to it. The noisiest things were the owls!

Quiet, free, with free water and toilet cassette emptying(no grey water). The spaces are sloping and we found chocks necessary. Within easy walking distance of the mediæval town. What's not to like?

If you want to stop a short stroll to a fine old town, perfectly proportioned to see in a few hours, then you can do no better. Bit of a car park feel but blissfully quiet overnight. Access to service point and parking is free from Oct to Apr.

Beautiful town with magnificent views, within walking distance. Parked under the trees, sunny and level (ish). Grey water and toilet cassette emptying free, electricity and water extra, we didn't bother. Tranquil aire at night but there's some kind of depot nearby which meant fairly regular toing and froing of trucks and vans.

Lovely aire and amazing village within( steep) walking distance. Free unless you stay overnight. The services were cordoned off and not working which we thought made this an expensive carpark for an overnight stop. We moved on to the car park for the caves at Pech Merl - no facilities but free!

Sitecode: 13400

Free, all facilities available (except electricity), peaceful and well laid out. We shared it with one other motorhome our first night and five the second. The town is old with a faded charm and worth the uphill climb to explore and admire the views. We've paid much more for far less!

I'm not sure what rate we were charged(looking at the tarrif below) as it cost 37 euros for 2 nights. The shower block was partially locked while we were the sole campers & no hot water. However, the owner was friendly and helpful. The site is tranquil and perfect for exploring the area. You park among the trees . There aren't really any views till you leave the site, but they are spectacular.

Generous provision of camping car facilities from what is clearly not a wealthy town. Free water, toilet dump and grey water. Aude runs behind the off street places, plenty of choice. Some local traffic but generally quiet. 8 mile there and back walk to Rennes le Chateau is good.

Sitecode: 2516

Level tarmac aire. Facilities available for a fee, which we chose not to use (water appeared to be free) and a toilet block. Walking distance of the interesting town, but we could find few shops nearby which were not closed down. A loud thunderstorm and heavy rain cut short our exploration. Quiet at night (apart from storm!). Traffic seemed to start early with trucks tooting as they passed.

An unusual set up (see other comments) and not a scenic farmyard, although v neat piles of usual farm detritus! However, cannot fault the enthusiastic welcome. Ideal location, helpful & friendly host, amazing facilities. There's a hair dryer thoughtfully next to a mirror, a covered patio with lovely furniture to use and a covered outside sink for washing up. The only thing stopping us giving this a 10 is lack of grey water and cassette emptying facilities. Otherwise: perfect multi-,lingual hosts; idyllic surroundings; convenient for charming Viborg. We liked it all so much we stayed 2 nights. It was full both nights.

A peaceful and for us ( on the piece of grass opposite the Fiskehus and next to the house) private spot. We were without power as we didn't need it. Peaceful and pretty camping spot. A haven after the busy ferry port and clearly signposted from the road. Water, power and dumping all included. Money put in the box and a bonus toilet and shower across the courtyard marked WC on the door. Lovely walk to the beach is highly recommended and described in the information box. A superb Spar just a cycle ride away in Tversted. Good enough for 2 nights.

Cheap (water and electricity included in 30 Nok price). Very handy for walking/cycling round Skien. At night be prepared for town noises. We were disturbed by loud music, loud passers by and a horn tooting in the early hours. On the plus side, traffic noises from the road were not an issue!

Ooops!Wrote this under wrong place. Large gravel car park . Watch for dust blowing across and where your door is. Lots of lorry noise overnight from main road, behind lake. Midnight swimmers also woke us. Handy for museum, otherwise not sure we'd have bothered. There is another carpark over the road, near waterfalls and toilets. Still, it is free.

Quiet, level-ish and cheap. High rating for a peaceful night's sleep with our 4 fellow campers. Treated to a motor cycle tuition session and a street sweeper removing the central puddle over breakfast! Can't guarantee they'll always lay on entertainment though.

Bit of a free for all on sloping and sodden grass. Young woman at information polite, but not too bothered. Electricity is extra and not included - we were charged 180 Nok without power which was different to the prices on the price list on display. Very busy, so queues for facilities. Washing machine and drier a bonus. Traffic audible but the sound of the river masked it at night. Great views!

Arrive early or bunfight for places. Facilities ok, we have motorhomes with them in, after all. Lovely town. Two really quiet nights then, Saturday night was bonkers: a loud party in the street above and at midnight 2 campers +8 loud Lithuanians emptying their catering rubbish into the bins. Police arrived then went. Disturbance continued, so not a good end to our stay. I presume it's not regular!

A useful chemical toilet disposal place ( next to the toilet), rubbish disposal, easy access to the petroglyphs, and 2 signposted lovely walks through the woods. Our low rating reflects the (surprising) road noise through the night and the driver who leaned on their horn 3 times at around midnight!

New and clean provision at a reasonable price, should have been perfect. For us it was the noise from the elevated road to the bridge which interrupted our night. Not busy but intermittent which seemed worse( we were in Trondheim before so used to road noise). Btw, if your camper is more than 3.5 t like ours, the bridge toll is 270 Nok. After filling and emptying at the rastplatz we crossed the river to find ourselves an idyllic spot beside the raging, and very noisy, river. Amazingly friendly owner. Clean facilities, which seemed perfectly adequate despite the place being full for Midsummer. Beautiful lakeside setting. Feels very safe. However, the main road is close and not as quiet as some reviewers have suggested. 80 kph trucks are not silent when they are less than 50 metres away! Clean, modern facilities, included in price. Overflow (without hook up 335 Nok) a bit of a free for all on rough ground, in contrast to neatly organised pitches. Can't fault the amazing location, nor the reasonable charge (170 Nok without hookup),but when it's full it is far from peaceful. We parked near the harbour on one of the few marked pitches. Yes, those bells! Not a pleasant peal either. A bit confusing about where to park(the field further down and not the first car park by the toilets and sani station). As a bonus we were parked amongst walnut trees with ripe walnuts falling off. Otherwise it is free and up until 7am is pretty quiet. We cycled and walked. We liked it here. Also handy for the shops.

Electricity and water included in the 6 euro charge(payable only if you stay the night).Quiet, safe, pretty and very convenient for exploring the town and visiting Lascaux 4. We liked it so much we stayed 2 nights.

Given it's position in the town centre, it's astonishingly quiet. The old town itself is well-worth a visit in daytime and evening. The spaces are generously proportioned so there is plenty of room in this popular aire, even when busy.

Quiet (apart from the owl at night, birdsong and the sound of the Dronne going by), pretty-if you like autumnal trees, well - trimmed grass and shrubs breaking up the level parking spaces- and very convenient for the picturesque old town. We happily endorse it.

Quiet, with no road noise all night, and very convenient for the Memorial. Very popular and full by 5 pm. Overlooks the stadium so there were sports activities and spotlights, although not disturbing the peace. Sani station and most importantly- free!

A carpark rather than designated for motorhomes. Quiet except at start and end of school day. Lovely village, helpful tourist information and handy for Voie Verte. Public toilets and sani station. Free.

Small but well located. Early April and mostly full even at lunchtime. Best spots are further away from large car park which is a coach dropping off point. Worth it for the gorgeous town. Be sure to do the ramparts and marvel at the French attitude to health and safety.😀

Get there early. Early April and the place was rammed. Not helped by locals parking their cars in the motorhome spaces, I think deliberately. Other than that it was a quiet location, only noise coming from another camper with a generator! That will endear us to the locals!

Upon first arrival it is just a car park for a tennis club, with a section for motorhomes. 15 minute walk to main town, but the tiny village is just as sweet. Surprisingly quiet with only one other camper (early April). Free water. An excellent spot.

On first arrival you are met with a huge car park next to a road. However, the road is pretty quiet even during the day and at night we heard nothing. Short walk into town to walk in the beautiful forest. Huelgoat in early April was blissfully quiet.

An interesting and historic town. The Aire is well-spaced and clean. Our stay,on a Saturday, was marred by a car full of youths trying to do handbrake turns in front of our motorhome and playing loud music and in the night people shouting as they crossed the carpark in front of us were disturbing.

Stayed early April. Excellent location up the hill from town. Close to cliff walks and standing stones. Plenty of empty generous spaces. Quiet with zero road noise. Felt so good we stayed two nights.

Quiet and peaceful this is a perfect little stopover. The nearby shop is convenient and the owner friendly. When we stayed it was very popular too, filling up quickly.

Ok for a casual visit to the beach and stroll along the promenade. Would be constantly noisy overnight from any passing traffic as the road is only a few metres away. Right opposite a Brocante shop that was shut while we were there.

No facilities. No shop. Bit of a drag to haul a big motorhome up the hill. This is the finest place we have ever spent a night! Views to die for. As tranquil a place you could wish. Ok, the odd motorbike dashes up the hill for a selfish, but who wouldn't?

We stayed in August 2015. Superb site inside the vineyard with one night free electric. Quiet and safe. Ability to safely cycle into Colmar itself. I guess the idea is that you buy some of their wine! I would suggest you arrive early.

We walked up to the rock from a nearby village and the car park does indeed have camping car signs. All the camping cars were actually parked up on the grass to the side of the carpark and jolly nice it all looked.

Not sure I would want to sleep over but a large car park with plenty of space for even the largest rig. Town itself is pleasant enough and you can dump your grey waste as a thank you. But to be able to safely park in the centre of a town for free is something we Brits can only dream about.

If you are ok with lining up like soldiers in a row in a car park then this is actually an ok stopover. If you are a war tourist then bonus as there is a museum within grenade throwing distance. No cost if you arrive after 6pm and leave by 8am. Masses of space for just the overnight part, but no doubt the carpark will get busy in the day. Town is a short walk away rammed with eateries.

Typical campsite. Well organised and of a moderate size. Clean modern facilities and all at a decent price. The joy is the location close to the centre of the lovely town. Lots to do and see to keep you there for a day.

The site is super. Old campsite next to a lake. Lots of level gravel pitches but plenty of extra grass ones. Village itself is polarised between wealthy modern houses close by and an older village nearby that has seen better times.
