Take part and win! | Sustainability Award 2024 | Campercontact
With small steps, together we can have a big impact on a better world. At Campercontact, we value sustainability and want to highlight initiatives that contribute to it. That's why we introduced the Campercontact Sustainability Awards last year. These awards are given to the most sustainable initiatives of motorhome sites in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Denmark.
Our goal is not only to inspire and motivate Managers, but also to encourage users to choose environmentally friendly motorhome options. By making sustainable choices together, we contribute to a better future.
In the world of sustainability, examples are often the source of great inspiration. They show what is possible, how small changes can have big impact and offer all kinds of ideas for creating a positive ecological footprint. At Campercontact, we strongly believe in sharing these inspiring stories to encourage and show others that sustainability can be simple.
Last year, we received numerous, sustainable initiatives from various motorhome sites. These initiatives range from smart energy-saving measures to innovative recycling programmes and green amenities. It is heartwarming to see the commitment of our motorhome community to a sustainable lifestyle and the good ideas that come out of it. We'd like to highlight a few for you.
Naturpark Camping Prinzenholz in Germany uses a green roof. A green roof is a planting layer on top of a building. It functions as natural insulation, reduces heat islands in urban areas and absorbs rainwater, thus relieving the sewage system. Green roofs promote biodiversity, improve air quality and contribute to sustainable development.
Several motorhome parks/campgrounds use rainwater harvesting and reuse. Here, rainwater is collected in large tanks, filtered and reused for non-potable purposes such as garden irrigation and toilet flushing. This promotes water conservation, reduces pressure on drinking water sources and supports an ecologically responsible approach to water use.
This French farmhouse Ferme Sinsac grows its own fruit and vegetables. This is sustainable as it reduces food miles and emissions. It reduces the use of packaging materials, promotes biodiversity, and offers a personalised, ecological approach to food production, contributing to a lower carbon footprint.
