Camping de Chartres

Beautifully maintained campsite. We stayed here for two days. It's quite a walk to the town center, but it's not a problem. It's a nice walk for the dogs.

Beautiful, quiet campsite; a fifteen-minute walk to the center of Chartres. Very friendly staff at reception! Wi-Fi only works at reception and in the adjacent communal lounge. Gates and barrier require a number code. We've read in many reviews about the cleanliness of the sanitary facilities, so we think we just happened to find them less than perfect. A large clump of hair on the shower drain and a dirty toilet that smelled of urine—yuck.

If this isn't already 5 stars, I don't know what is. The welcome was fantastic, the location superb, the riverside setting beautiful, and the bathroom facilities were excellent! And we also happened to have a wood-fired pizza one evening. Those were also fantastic!
