Camping Altenburschla

It has to be your kind of campsite, but for us, this ticks all the boxes. Wonderfully quiet; the nights here are truly dark. When you arrive and get a smile from reception: definitely stay here. If not, then this isn't the place for you. The campsite's decor is amazing. In September, don't reserve, just pick a spot with a ‘frei’ sign. Frei is the keyword here.

We stayed here for three nights; a beautiful spot by the River Wera. This is a no-nonsense campsite where you shouldn't expect luxury, but simply what a small campsite is meant to be. The sanitary facilities are clean. All amenities are there, but basic. We enjoyed a nice walk and looked around the village with its half-timbered houses. The owner is friendly and considerate of the guests. We thought it was perfectly fine.

A very nice campsite with a very friendly owner who understands what it is all about. We stayed at a beautiful spot on the Werra, a wonderful place to unwind. The surroundings—the small, beautiful village of Altenburschla—are absolutely worth a walk; the nature is beautiful, and a bike ride or drive to explore the wider area, which is still so authentic, makes it feel like we are entering the world of the Brothers Grimm.
