In early May, we stayed at Salix in Hitzum, a stone's throw from Franeker, where we were heading the next day. It is a quiet spot with spacious, green pitches and chickens and sheep as cheerful neighbors. The owner is relaxed, and you immediately feel welcome and at ease. The sanitary facilities were in excellent order. For anyone traveling for a night in Friesland looking for peace and a good feeling, Salix is a pleasant stopover.
