Vacancy: PHP Developer 🚀

Are you a PHP developer with at least 2 years of experience? Do you enjoy working on a system that has to be right every time, because someone's actual trip depends on it? Then we have a good challenge for you.

You will work on our booking system: the place where motorhome travellers confirm their stay and where locations manage their availability and prices. Our stack: PHP (Symfony), AWS, GraphQL, Terraform and MySQL. And you do that in a team that builds agentically, with AI agents as a fixed part of how we work.

How do we work?

For us it all comes down to focus and efficiency. We believe we work best when we can give our full attention to one task and understand why a feature is being built. That is why we have set up our way of working so that we have:

• As few meetings as possible: a standup three times a week, a kick-off session when we start a new feature and a monthly reflection on how we work.
• Maximum autonomy and ownership: developers get the room to do their work their own way.
• Staying focused on delivering value: we do not work in strict sprints, we focus on building and shipping complete features.
• One feature at a time wherever possible: you pick up a feature with a few teammates and build it together over days or weeks. That way you rarely have to switch context.
• Agentic working with AI: AI agents are part of how we build. We write a clear spec first, let agents do the groundwork and keep control of architecture, review and quality ourselves.

How do we learn and innovate?

Beyond learning about our field every day, it matters that we work on our own development in a structured way.

• Sharing blog posts and articles: our team chat is used regularly to share interesting articles and videos.
• A monthly knowledge session: every month a different developer on the team shares their knowledge in a presentation. Backend, frontend, IDEs, AI and data; every topic comes up.
• A DevDay every quarter: a day where you decide what you want to build or try out. From a new testing library to reading OSM data. You choose what you work on.

What do we expect from you?

• Experience with PHP: you bring at least 2 years of relevant experience building web applications in modern PHP and Symfony. You know how to keep an application maintainable and testable.
• Affinity with booking logic: you work on our booking system, where availability, prices and reservations have to be exactly right. Edge cases and data quality interest you rather than annoy you.
• Experience with AWS: you are at home in the cloud. Our PHP application runs on Lambda, which is a pleasant but slightly unusual setup. Have you worked with Terraform? Great. If not, you will learn it here.
• GraphQL and MySQL: you design and integrate GraphQL APIs and you are strong in SQL, from optimising a query to thinking through a data model.
• Agentic working with AI: you use AI tooling daily and want to take the step towards agentic development: writing specs an agent can execute, while staying responsible for the result.
• Quality and ownership: you write clean, well-tested code, think about monitoring and logging (we use Sentry and CloudWatch) and take responsibility for your work. You can explain your technical choices to product managers and fellow developers.
